Polyurethane

Polyurethane (commonly abbreviated PU) is an organic molecule obtained by chemical reaction. Polyurethanes can be of various textures and hardness. They are hard-wearing, easy to clean and can look like leather. They are widely used in the furniture area to make items look like leather. This enables sellers to offer lower prices. Each time you buy a Miliboo piece of furniture in polyurethane, you save the life of an animal.

Pigmented corrected grain

Leather that has been abraded to remove imperfections before the surface coating is applied. These leathers are hard-wearing, easy to clean and are more resistant to light.

Chrome salt tanned

The most common tanning is the chrome tanning that makes leather more resistant and is essencial to have supple leather.

Buffalo hide

It is thicker than cow-hide and doesn't tear easily. Leather is hard-wearing, fire-resistant and mould-proof.

Leather

Leather is created through the tanning of hides and skins of animals such as cows, buffaloes or pigs. Skins go through several processes to transform them into leather. First, the skin is prepared and goes through a series of operation like soaking, liming and fleshing, then it is tanned and finally crusted. Each leather is unique as it bears marks that are specific to each animal (eg. scars). In the furniture area, the minimum recommended thickness is 1.1mm. All leather items sold on our website have a thickness that varies between 1.2 and 1.4mm.

Pigmented rawhide

Leather made from the flesh split or middle split. This leather is then pigmented to be waterproof and to be easier to clean.
